A lakeside resort is not just a peaceful getaway; it’s a playground for watersports enthusiasts, fishers, and nature lovers alike. Whether you’re a seasoned adventurer or a family looking to create new memories, you know the lake is the place to be (so do we, that’s why we’re here all year round).
What’s there to do at the lake? This is something we can talk about all day. If you don’t have that much time, here’s a quick guide to getting the most out of your trip to the lake!
Don’t Just Stand There, Get Out onto the Lake!
The beach is nice, and the water is great to look at (especially the crystal-clear waters of Sugar Lake), but the real adventure awaits you on the water’s surface! While you’re more than welcome to swim, you can explore the entirety of the lake by rowing, sailing, or riding one of these:
- Canoes and Kayaks: glide across the crystal-clear waters while enjoying the natural tranquility of the lake. Paddling is not only relaxing but also a great way to sneak in some exercise during your vacation.
- Stand-Up Paddleboards: if you’re looking for a fun way to challenge your balance and enjoy the water, try stand-up paddleboarding. It’s an excellent activity for all ages, if your abs can handle it!
Do a Pontoon Ride with Family or Friends
If you can stand being out on o boat with your friends and family for a few hours, feel free to rent a pontoon for a leisurely cruise around the lake. It’s perfect for group outings, offering plenty of space for food, fishing, or simply soaking in the scenic views.
Give Fishing a Try
There’s something really serene about fishing in the early morning. Whether you’re a seasoned angler or a first-timer, fishing is a peaceful way to connect with nature (and reel it in!). Take the kids, relax with your friends, or ask about a guided fishing trip if you have no idea what you’re doing!
Relax on the Beach
There’s sun, sand, and relaxation to be had at the beach. Spend a day unwinding, build a sandcastle, read a book, or just sit in the sun and absorb some vitamin D. The gentle sound of the water and the refreshing lake breeze make for a really nice relaxation spot.
Walk Along the Lake Shore
If you’re more of a mover take a leisurely stroll (or brisk) walk around the lake. We’ve got more than eight miles of shoreline for you to cover, plus hiking and biking trails located nearby. Early morning or sunset walks offer unforgettable views and the opportunity to spot some of our local wildlife.
Try Something You Never Have Before
Always wanted to try water skiing or wakeboarding? Never tried your hand at fishing or golfing? This is the time to expand your horizons and try something new.
Check it Out at Night
The lake completely changes at night, and the absence of city lights makes stargazing a mesmerizing experience. Get outside after dark, listen to the sounds of the night, and watch the stars with the people you love. You won’t regret it.
Play Some Outdoor Games While Enjoying the View
Want to engage in some friendly competition with a game of beach volleyball, tennis, pickleball, or horseshoes? Go ahead and crush your family and friends at their game of choice or hang your head in shame after you lose. Just make sure to have some fun along the way.
