Summer 2020 Gave Us a Lot of Feelings

As the world spiraled into chaos this past Spring, we were forced to reimagine what our “busy season” would look like. How could we open safely? Would we be able to continue with the quality service you all have come to know and love? How will we connect with you behind a mask, plexiglass, and 6 insufferable feet of distance?

It turns out, when the going gets tough, we pivot purposefully.

We changed a lot of our “normals” into new, more efficient ways of visiting Sugar Lake Lodge. From a new ordering system at Otis’s Grill & Bar to streamlined activities focused on our most precious asset (nature), this summer turned out to be something we hold near and dear to our hearts:  a new experience.

We discovered a lot of things about ourselves this year (#growth) and we feel more energized than ever before to proceed in a  quality-focused direction. We received a TON of positive feedback over the summer regarding the changes we’ve implemented and we are so excited to head into 2021 with practical updates and unwavering optimism (and more cords of wood to burn!). This summer was so much fun that we’re taking notes to make the years ahead even better.

If this year has taught us anything, it’s that we have procured something really special here together, and we are ever grateful for your steadfast support and instinct to refer to us as your “happy place.”

So…Thank you.

Thank you  for trusting us enough to host you and your family during a very unpredictable time in the world.
Thank you  for being understanding, patient, and overwhelmingly positive.
Thank you  for the kindness shown to our beloved staff.
Thank you  for taking advantage of every inch of this beautiful property with bonfires and swimming and paddle boarding and sailing and golfing and nature hikes and sunset viewing on the docks.
Thank you  for the laughs, the photos, and the recounting of stories you’ve amassed here.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

See you in 2021,
Fred & Gwynne / Abby & Tim

What People Are Saying About Sugar Lake Lodge

"Our family just stayed here for the first time last week. The lake was absolutely gorgeous! So relaxing. The staff was so friendly and so helpful, it made us feel so welcomed! Kraig at the front desk was awesome and always helpful! Our villa was great! We played two rounds of golf, enjoyed the pontoon boat, did some fishing, enjoyed the pool, and loved the beautiful grounds! We are hoping to make it a point to come back here every year! As a family who doesn't get away very often at all because of work and business, it was uplifting and made us feel so relaxed! Thanks again!"
—Don H.

“We have a group of 8–15 guys that have played in an annual golf event here for the past 22 years. The resort and lake are beautiful, the golf course is unique and challenging, and the accommodations and food are excellent. However, what sets this place apart from others is customer service. Fred Bobich and his staff are tremendous and go above and beyond to make our stay so amazing! On behalf of the whole Guts & Glory Golfers, thank you so much!!!”
—Jacob D.

"SLL is our favorite annual vacation. We think we've been coming here for 19 years. We've lost track it's been so long! From kid’s camp to smores with Casey by the fire, kayaking, SUP, yoga by the lake, pickleball, tennis, basketball, volleyball, ping pong, the pool, the beautiful golf course, coffee cruise, and the best customer service! The list goes on and on. We are staying later than normal this year over Labor Day, so we're enjoying free golf and free breakfast, which is amazing! Most beautiful lake around and those sunsets! Thank you, SLL, for making this our favorite vacation spot. (We drive six hours just to get here and it's well worth it!)"
—Jackie R.

"Your resort is nothing short of amazing! So much to do for all ages! We now go every summer with my extended family!"

"The staff went above and beyond to make sure I had what I needed! They even upgraded my room simply because it was available! It’s a beautiful place to stay! Helpful concierge. Thoughtful amenities. Quiet rooms. Spacious rooms. Family friendly. Romantic atmosphere. Great hotel bar. Good room service."
—Priscilla P.

"I led a retreat here in late October 2017, and the service, hospitality, friendliness, and enthusiasm of the staff were all delightful. A lovely resort in a lovely setting! We enjoyed some memorable meals too. We were very well cared for. And my suite was homey, comfortable, and a nice little oasis during a blustery early season snowstorm. Kudos to Sugar Lake Lodge! And thank you!"
